Hamdan Bin Rashid Foundation Launches Training Phase for the Fourth Cycle of the Hamdan EFQM Global Educational Model and Award

Dubai, UAE, February 18, 2026: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has commenced the training phase for schools participating in the fourth cycle of the Hamdan EFQM Global Educational Model and Award. Running from January to April 2026, this phase is delivered within a structured framework designed to enable schools to implement institutional excellence standards aligned with a globally specialized educational model.

The programme equips participating schools with a clear and practical understanding of the Model’s criteria and application mechanisms, supporting their integration within institutional systems and educational programmes. Expert-led, targeted training sessions focus on strengthening institutional readiness through systematic analysis and applied practice of excellence requirements.

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, stated that the training phase represents a central component of the fourth cycle, enabling schools to develop a rigorous understanding of institutional excellence standards and supporting their structured transition to the evaluation stage. He added that embedding the Model’s culture and standards will expand the reach of educational quality and elevate outstanding schools to leading levels of distinction.

Schools from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates are participating in this phase, underscoring the Model’s regional scope and its role in fostering a culture of institutional excellence across diverse educational contexts.

The training phase will conclude with dedicated support to schools in finalizing submission requirements and uploading documentation through the approved electronic platform, in preparation for the evaluation stage, which begins in October 2026.

This initiative reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to advancing institutional excellence in education and supporting schools in adopting internationally recognized best practices to enhance quality and educational outcomes at both regional and global levels.

Hamdan Foundation Concludes Outreach Visits Across UAE Schools

Dubai, UAE, Feb 17, 2026: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has concluded a series of outreach visits introducing its educational awards to 300 potential nominees, including students, teachers, and education professionals, across seven schools and scientific complexes in various Emirates. The field-based programme aimed to strengthen quality participation in the current awards cycle.

A total of 212 students, 58 teachers, and 30 education professionals benefited from the visits. The sessions focused on presenting award categories, eligibility criteria, and evaluation mechanisms, in addition to clarifying requirements for preparing submission portfolios in line with approved quality indicators.

Her Excellency Khawla Ahmed Bahlooq, Assistant Executive Director of the Excellence Sector, commented: “Foundation is committed to supporting and empowering target groups to clearly understand the regulatory framework of the awards and submission requirements, while enhancing institutional readiness to participate in a structured manner that reflects actual performance levels and implemented practices within schools. The outreach visits serve as a direct channel of engagement with education field, allowing detailed clarification of award standards and nomination criteria. We observed strong interest from schools and education professionals in participating, alongside their commitment to understanding evaluation mechanisms and preparing portfolios that meet approved standards. This level of engagement reflects growing awareness of the importance of adhering to quality benchmarks when applying for the awards.”

The meetings included professional discussions on application requirements and judging standards, as well as practical examples demonstrating how educational practices can be aligned with excellence indicators, contributing to raising both participation levels and submission quality in the current cycle.

These visits form part of Foundation’s broader plan to promote its awards and strengthen both institutional and individual participation, ensuring wider engagement across educational sectors throughout UAE.

Dubai, UAE, February 12, 2026 – The Asia-Pacific Federation of the Gifted announced, at the conclusion of the 19th Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness (APCG 2026), that Dubai has been selected to host the next edition of the conference in 2028. The announcement was made at the closing of the conference, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 7 to 11 February under the theme “Fast Forward: Vision 2050 of Gifted Education”.

Professor Kyungbin Park, President of the Asia-Pacific Federation on Giftedness (APFG), said: “Dubai is an exceptional city that brings together diverse cultures and nationalities under one umbrella. It stands as a global model of diversity, openness, and coexistence. We very much look forward to convening the conference in Dubai in 2028. APFG is confident that Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, as the host and organizing institution, will deliver a conference of the highest calibre, given its distinguished track record in advancing giftedness and excellence. In this context, the Foundation concluded its participation in the 19th Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness, held in Jeddah. The papers presented and the accompanying exhibition reflected a strong level of academic and applied excellence, highlighting innovative models and professional practices that contribute to advancing education and research.

The conference programme featured several contributions from the Foundation’s delegation. Dr. Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, presented a paper on academic giftedness and university major selection. Dr. Rashid Al Riyami, Chair of the Distinguished School Award Committee, addressed the Hamdan–EFQM Educational Model as a framework for educational excellence. Dr. Sadeq Abdulwahid, Researcher at the World Giftedness Center, highlighted initiatives promoting a culture of excellence, while Huda Al Hammadi, Gifted Initiatives Specialist, presented the Global Talent Mentorship Programme in STEMM fields.

The Foundation’s team also participated in specialized seminars and the Youth Summit, focusing on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and secured third place in the Innovation Hackathon dedicated to developing creative solutions to educational challenges.

Through its exhibition pavilion, the Foundation showcased its global and regional initiatives in gifted education and strengthened avenues for institutional collaboration.

Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation Students Win UAE Robotics Championship with Participation of 80 Teams

Dubai, UAE, February 9, 2026 – The team of Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, part of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, has been crowned champion of UAE Robotics Championship – FIRST LEGO League for 2025–2026 season, following a highly competitive national journey. This year’s championship saw broad participation from across Emirates, with more than 2,000 students taking part, making it one of the largest editions held at national level.

Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, said: “This achievement reflects an educational approach that positions students as designers, critical thinkers, and decision-makers. FIRST LEGO League serves as a real-world learning environment where students tackle complex challenges, view problem-solving as an integral part of learning, and translate ideas into practical solutions. Qualifying to represent United Arab Emirates internationally underscores the value of applied learning in preparing future-ready, globally competitive innovators.”

Dubai Emirate qualifiers brought together around 80 teams from schools and educational institutions, with Hamdan Centre team representing Dubai. The team secured first place, winning Dubai Championship and earning qualification to UAE finals, alongside 38 teams advancing from local qualifiers across all Emirates.

UAE finals were held on 7 February 2026 at American School of Creative Science in Sharjah, bringing together 38 teams from across the country. Hamdan Centre team delivered another strong performance, securing UAE Robotics Championship title for 2025–2026 season, following its earlier win in Dubai qualifiers.

With this result, Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation team has qualified to represent United Arab Emirates in upcoming international FIRST LEGO League competitions, highlighting students’ advanced capabilities and readiness to compete on regional and global scientific and technological platforms.

This achievement aligns with Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences’ ongoing commitment to nurturing gifted students through applied, hands-on learning environments that strengthen analytical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, and prepare learners for active participation in international scientific and innovation arenas.

Dubai, UAE, 29 January 2026:  Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum, Supreme President of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, honoured the winners of the 2025 Medical Awards during an official ceremony organised by the Foundation at Etihad Museum in Dubai. The event was attended by senior healthcare leaders, policymakers, academics, and researchers from within the United Arab Emirates and abroad.

In his address, Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum emphasised that the medical sector constitutes a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and a core driver of quality of life and human empowerment. Sheikh Rashid noted that recognising distinguished achievers in this field reflects the Foundation’s steadfast commitment to promoting excellence grounded in scientific research, innovation, and professional integrity. Sheikh Rashid added that the Medical Awards represent a continuation of the scientific and humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose belief in fostering excellence and supporting research contributed significantly to advancing diagnostic and treatment practices and to enhancing healthcare services and public health awareness.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, HE Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Under Secretary Assistant of Public Health Sector at  Ministry of Health and Prevention, stated: “As we honour the winners of the Medical Awards today, we celebrate excellence and innovation while reaffirming our commitment to advancing scientific research, strengthening knowledge partnerships, and embedding a culture of excellence as a sustainable institutional approach.”

For his part, H.E. Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, noted that the honouring ceremony represents the culmination of a rigorous process of scientific evaluation and specialised peer review. He explained that the winning works demonstrated a high level of research quality and applied impact, highlighting leading models in medical research, healthcare innovation, and professional practice that contribute to strengthening healthcare systems and enhancing their societal impact. H.E. Al Qatami added that the Medical Awards reflect the advanced standards of healthcare services and reveal elite competencies within this vital sector, underscoring alignment with the leadership’s commitment to supporting healthcare development in pursuit of strategic objectives toward a knowledgeable, health-conscious society capable of meeting the demands of sustainable development. He concluded by congratulating the winners and reaffirming the Foundation’s continued support for advancing medical excellence and promoting sustained quality in healthcare performance.

Winners

A total of ten (10) institutions, specialists, and researchers were honoured across regional and national award categories in the 2025 Medical Awards cycle. These included the Arab Award for Research in Healthcare, the Arab Award in Genetics, the Best Research in the Healthcare Award, the Innovation in Healthcare Award, and the Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities in the Healthcare Sector. The winning submissions reflected a high level of scientific rigor and applied relevance, reinforcing the role of the awards in highlighting excellence in medical research and professional healthcare practice.

The Arab Award in Genetics under the Arab World Awards category was granted to Prof. Majed bin Abdullah Al Fadhel, Professor of Pediatrics and Genetics at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Chairman of Genetics and Precision Medicine department at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, and Deputy Executive Director of King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre (KAIMRC).

The Arab Award for Research in Healthcare was awarded to a study titled “Long-read sequencing enhances the discovery of pathogenic and novel variants in patients with rare diseases”. The research was submitted by a team from Dubai Health Genomic Medicine Center, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine & Health Science, and the Dubai Police's Genome Centre. The same award was also granted to another study titled “The role of dapagliflozin in relieving cellular stress and inflammation through modulation of the PI3K/AKT pathway in cardiomyocytes, aortic endothelial cells, and stem-cell-derived beta cells.” This study was prepared by a research team from the University of Sharjah, Mayo Clinic – United States of America, United Arab Emirates University, Emirates Health Services, the Armed Forces College of Medicine – Arab Republic of Egypt, and Mansoura University – Arab Republic of Egypt.

Within the United Arab Emirates awards, Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities in the Healthcare Sector was presented to Dr. Arif Abdulla Alnooryani, Executive Director and Head of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Heart Center – Al Qassimi Hospital, and Dr Wadeia Muhammad Sharif, Director of Medical Education and Research Department– Dubai Health Authority.

The Best Research in the Healthcare Award recognized three studies. Among them was a study titled “Physical activity as a means of preventing eye diseases,” submitted by a research team from Gulf Medical University and Johns Hopkins University. Another winning study, titled “Impact of multicomponent clinical interventions, including optimal medication use and lifestyle improvement, on patients with type 2 diabetes: a randomized clinical trial between two patient groups,” was prepared by a research team from The Life Corner Pharmacies – PureHealth and Seha Clinics – PureHealth. The same award also went to a study titled “Hemostasis techniques in neurosurgery: development of a consensus-based classification and validation using retrospective analysis of neurosurgical operative videos,” submitted by a research team from University College London. The Innovation in Healthcare Award was granted to the program “Not Even One Day: A Radical Transformation Journey in Access to Autism Services” from Al Jalila Children’s Hospital – Dubai Health. An additional Innovation in Healthcare Award was also presented to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for the UAE’s first comprehensive Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) program for treating Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, which has completed more than 100 AI-enabled smart implants equipped with advanced brain-sensing technologies that surpass global standards.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the winners affirmed that the Medical Awards of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation represent a key catalyst for fostering a culture of research and innovation and contribute to advancing the UAE’s vision of becoming a global hub for medical and scientific excellence.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 28 January 2026: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has announced the launch of the new cycle of its local and Gulf awards, in addition to the Hamdan–ALECSO Awards and the World Giftedness Center Awards. The new cycle reflects the expanded scope and diversity of the awards and aligns with the rapid transformations taking place in education, research, and innovation.

The nomination and evaluation phases will commence in January 2026 and will include orientation workshops on eligibility criteria and advisory sessions held between February and July. The deadline for submitting applications has been set as 20 July 2026 for the local and Gulf awards, 19 August 2026 for the Hamdan–ALECSO Award for Digital Innovations in Education, and 24 August 2026 for the World Giftedness Center Awards. The cycle will continue with adjudication processes in August, followed by interviews and field visits in September, leading to the announcement of winners in November 2026.

On this occasion, Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, stated: “We are pleased to launch the new cycle of the Foundation’s awards, in line with our established commitment to our stakeholders and beneficiaries, and in accordance with the approved annual and periodic plans governing the awards. Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation places strong emphasis on the quality of its services as part of its ongoing efforts to support excellence in education, encourage scientific research, and recognise the qualitative contributions of students, teachers, educational professionals, and educational institutions, in addition to innovative initiatives and giftedness development. The 2026 awards cycle will be distinguished by its focus on initiatives with measurable impact and sustainable quality. Through these awards, we aim to motivate outstanding performance and foster a culture of quality and innovation, contributing to the advancement of education and the development of knowledge-based societies capable of keeping pace with global changes and achieving sustainable development.”

Dr. Al Suwaidi further explained that the new cycle includes local educational awards dedicated to recognising distinguished achievers within the United Arab Emirates. These comprise the Distinguished Student Award, the Local Distinguished University Student Award, the Distinguished Teacher Award, the Distinguished Educational Professional Award, as well as the Local Distinguished School Award and the Supporting Institutions of Education Award, in recognition of qualitative contributions that enhance the educational environment and advance the quality of education in accordance with established professional standards.

Dr. Al Suwaidi added that the Gulf educational awards include the Distinguished Student Award, the Distinguished Teacher Award, the Distinguished Educational Professional Award, and the Distinguished School Award, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to supporting educational excellence across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, promoting the exchange of educational expertise, and recognising leading educational models in the region.

With regard to the international awards in the new cycle, Dr. Al Suwaidi noted that they include awards for research and innovation, foremost among them the Hamdan–ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research and the Hamdan–ALECSO Award for Digital Innovations in Education, implemented in collaboration with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). These awards aim to support high-quality educational research and encourage innovative solutions that contribute to the development of educational systems and the advancement of educational practices.

The international awards also include those dedicated to gifted education, most notably the Applied Research Global Award of Gifted Education and the School Global Award Initiative of Gifted Education, implemented by the World Giftedness Center. These awards aim to support leading initiatives and applied research that contribute to the identification, development, and nurturing of gifted individuals at the international level.

The launch of the new cycle reaffirms the leading role played by Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences in supporting educational excellence, advancing scientific research, and empowering educational and student competencies, in line with national, regional, and international directions for the development of education.

Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation Students Win Dubai FIRST LEGO League Championship

Dubai, UAE, January 27, 2026 – Students from Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, part of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, won the FIRST LEGO League competition at the Emirate of Dubai level. The competition was held yesterday at Metropole School in Dubai, with the participation of eighty-five (85) teams representing various schools and educational institutions across the Emirate.

In this context, Dr. Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, stated: “This achievement reflects the advanced level reached by the programmes of Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, and demonstrates the scientific competencies and innovative capabilities our students possess in the fields of science, technology, and engineering. These results also reaffirm the Centre’s commitment to providing applied learning environments based on experiential learning, enabling students to develop analytical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, while linking theoretical knowledge with practical application. The Centre’s participation in the FIRST LEGO League competition aligns with its vision to prepare a generation of innovators capable of competing in scientific and technological forums and contributing effectively to the UAE’s transition towards a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.”

The first student team was crowned overall champion of the competition, securing first place in the Robot Performance category, in addition to achieving the highest score recorded at the local competition level in the United Arab Emirates, underscoring the advanced skills of the participating students and their ability to excel in technical competitions. The first team comprised Khaled Mohammed Al Amadi, Hamdan Rashid Baljafla, Abdullah Fahad Al Mahmoud, Abdulkarim Yousuf Bu Khashm, and Sayed Mansour Sayed Hassan Al Hashemi.

Meanwhile, the second student team achieved second place in the Robot Design category, in a highly competitive field that reflected advanced skills in engineering innovation and design thinking. The second team included Zayed Jassim Al Banna, Sheikh Dhiab bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, and Issa Yousuf Bu Khashm.

Dubai, UAE, 31 December 2025:  Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has initiated, as of 27 December 2025, a series of specialized training programs under the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model. These programs are designed to strengthen institutional excellence across the education sector, enhance the professional capabilities of school leadership and certified assessors, and align educational practices with internationally recognized standards and development frameworks.

His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, underscored the strategic significance of launching these programs, noting: “The Hamdan EFQM Educational Model constitutes a key driver in building an educational ecosystem capable of delivering measurable outcomes. It provides institutions with practical tools that connect planning to implementation and impact and reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to strengthening educational quality and empowering professionals in accordance with global best practices.”

The EFQM-Hamdan Education Assessor Training program under the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model commenced from 27 to 29 December 2025, with sessions scheduled to continue on 3 and 4 January 2026 at the Foundation’s headquarters. The program targets educational leaders, institutional excellence specialists, and certified assessors, focusing on developing professional competencies in institutional review, improvement management, and educational performance analysis.

Program delivery is grounded in the application of the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model within learning environments, ensuring alignment with the international institutional framework and adapting it to the needs of schools at local and regional levels. The training emphasizes the development of assessment skills in line with international standards, the enhancement of organizational and pedagogical performance, and the translation of initiatives into measurable improvements in learning outcomes.

The launch of these programs reaffirms the Foundation’s mission to advance educational quality and excellence, empower educational professionals, strengthen sector-wide partnerships, and contribute to a sustainable ecosystem rooted in efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

Dubai, UAE, 18 December 2025:  Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences concluded the activities of the Future Skills Winter Forum 2025, organized by Hamdan Bin Rashid Center for Giftedness and Innovation. The forum served as a specialized educational platform aimed at developing students’ scientific and technological competencies, promoting applied learning, and nurturing talent and innovation among participants aged 10 to 22, through an integrated suite of training programs and specialized workshops.

His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, stated: “The Future Skills Forum represents one of the Foundation’s flagship initiatives that reflects our commitment to providing innovative educational environments that empower students with future-ready skills. The forum is an extension of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to support talent and innovation, and to promote applied learning that enables students to discover their potential and expand their scientific and technological knowledge.”

The forum featured more than ten specialized training programs across the talent and innovation tracks, including foundational and applied programs such as Smart TECH Explorers, Humanoid Robot, FIRST LEGO League, CubeSat, and The 5 Buckets. In addition, innovation-focused programs addressed applications of artificial intelligence, community-based technologies, and digital agriculture, including AI Smart Air Monitor, Community Arcade Challenge, and Digital Green Farm. These programs were delivered within learning environments designed to support project-based learning and collaborative teamwork.

The forum also included a dedicated dialogue session for parents of gifted students, aimed at strengthening the role of the family as a key partner in nurturing talent. The session enabled parents to better understand the educational pathways offered and their role in supporting their children’s scientific and innovative development.

The forum’s closing day featured an interactive scientific program that included honoring participants, a student project exhibition, as well as scientific presentations and competitions. Students showcased the projects they developed throughout the forum, reflecting the outcomes of the training programs and the practical, hands-on scientific and technical skills they acquired.

Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences affirmed that the Future Skills Winter Forum forms part of its ongoing programs to support talent and innovation and to develop modern educational models that contribute to preparing a generation equipped with the scientific and technological competencies required to meet future challenges.

  • Nine nominations from seven countries competed for the international prize for the development of educational infrastructures.
  • Three winners from Yemen, Morocco, and Azerbaijan were selected for projects exceeding a total value of USD 28 million.
  • A new cooperation agreement was signed between the Foundation and ICESCO to strengthen support for educational initiatives across the Islamic world.


Dubai, UAE, 5 December 2025:  Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Supreme President of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, honored the winners of the fourth cycle of the Hamdan–ICESCO Prize for the Development of Educational Facilities in the Islamic World during a ceremony held on Monday 8 December in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The award is organized in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).

The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the “Launch of the Artificial Intelligence Index in the Islamic World” conference, in the presence of His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, members of the Board, and with high-level participation from senior officials, representatives of international organizations, as well as leading scholars and experts. Three pioneering projects from Yemen, Morocco, and Azerbaijan were awarded the prize. Together, their developmental programs amounted to more than USD 28 million, directed toward advancing education and improving educational infrastructure across multiple communities. The award ceremony also witnessed the signing of a new cooperation agreement between the Foundation and ICESCO, aimed at strengthening institutional partnership and expanding joint efforts to support educational initiatives in the Organization’s member states.

Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Supreme President of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, said: “Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences — under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates — firmly believes that true investment lies in investing in people. The highest form of this investment is the support of science, knowledge, and excellence wherever their seeds are planted and wherever their momentum takes root. From this belief, this joint initiative was established by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in cooperation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), to encourage support for education and to honour inspiring models that contribute to its advancement and sustainability across our Islamic world.”

Sheikh Rashid added: “Thanks to the constructive cooperation and exceptional attention extended by ICESCO’s leadership, led by its Director-General, H.E. Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, this prize has succeeded in creating a profound impact on improving the quality of educational environments in many remote communities. It has highlighted the value of social responsibility and community partnership, fostered volunteerism in supporting education, and strengthened the efforts of governments in Islamic countries. All of this reflects our belief in the ability of our Islamic nation to rise, progress, and achieve sustainable development and shared educational prosperity.”

The Supreme President concluded: “I extend my congratulations to the prize winners and say to them: we praise Allah for His guidance, for today you have become a source of pride and inspiration for charitable institutions, donors, and benefactors committed to supporting educational environments and learners. With God’s will, our responsibility to promote a culture of volunteerism and amplify its impact in supporting education will remain constant and deeply rooted.”

For his part, H.E. Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), praised the role and impact of the Prize in supporting educational and developmental initiatives across member states. He emphasized the importance of the partnership with the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences in enhancing the quality of education and advancing educational facilities throughout the Islamic world.

The decision of the International Jury Committee resulted in awarding the prize to the Model Schools Project of the Hadramout Foundation for Human Development from the Republic of Yemen, in recognition of its contribution to strengthening educational infrastructure and empowering students in targeted areas. From the Kingdom of Morocco, the Moroccan Foundation for Early Childhood Education received the prize for its project ‘Equipping Early Childhood Classrooms in Rural, Semi-Rural, and Urban Areas’ which aims to support early childhood education by developing learning environments and equipping hundreds of classrooms.

The third award went to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation of Azerbaijan for its ‘Support of Education Program’, implemented across several countries—including Georgia, Pakistan, Russia, China, Vietnam, and Bosnia and Herzegovina—providing a wide-impact model that enhances access to education and advances educational infrastructures across an international geographic scope.

The event also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). The agreement aims to strengthen joint cooperation between the two entities and support programs and initiatives dedicated to developing educational facilities and improving the quality of education in member states. The MoU seeks to expand areas of institutional collaboration, reinforce the existing partnership, and launch future projects that contribute to advancing educational development across the Islamic world.

His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Foundation, affirmed that “Hamdan–ICESCO Prize for the Development of Educational Infrastructures” is one of the UAE-led initiatives designed to support ICESCO’s efforts in advancing education across the Islamic world. He noted that the Hamdan Foundation will continue its role in supporting innovative initiatives that contribute to improving learning environments in member states and strengthening international partnerships aimed at developing educational facilities and expanding access to quality and inclusive education.

His Excellency added that the Foundation remains committed to contributing to efforts that seek to build more sustainable and equitable educational systems, and to highlighting exemplary models and initiatives that create tangible impact in the advancement of education in the Islamic world.
